It’s been a while since I posted some photos here on the blog and I really want the blog to have a photography section too. In the beginning of the year I was planning on doing a Project365 but I quickly realised that it wouldn’t work for me. But then a reader of this blog told me about how he was doing a “Focus52″ so you would post atleast a photo a week and that sounded like something I would actually have time for. I commited myself to do this “Focus52″ and it was all going pretty good except for the fact that I didn’t post any pictures in a long time.
Now was finally the time to post a photo. This is a photo I took today when I was out in the beautiful weather walking along the beach.

I’ve just installed WPTouch which is a plugin/theme for Wordpress blogs that serves up a mobile version for the user. The plugin reads the visitors user-agent and with that generates a custom mobile version of the blog for that visitor. I had been using Wordpress Mobile Pack for a while but there was just some things about it that I didn’t like and that’s why I changed to WPTouch. This new plugin includes a lot of new features that Wordpress Mobile Pack didn’t, features like Prowl push support so visitors can send me messages directly to my iPhone and I can respond to them.

Here is a couple of screenshots from my iPhone showing how it looks:

This is how the frontpage with the posts is looking on a iPhone. Notice the little “Mobile Theme” switch.

Some pictures of how the basic functions and categories look on the iPhone, I really like the way they are displayed.

Here is the features I was telling you about in the beginning of the post where the visitor can “Message” me and then I’ll receive a push notification on my iPhone through Prowl. It’s a really cool feature and something I had been looking at before. I was looking at implementing pushme.to but this just seems way easier because I was already using Prowl.

Review recap:

It’s only been a day since I wrote my Google Street View DK version live post about the fact that the service was available to Danish people too. Now I’ve been using StatPress for while now to track down visitors and how they find my site – you know all the basic analytics stuff. It’s a great tool which I really enjoy using and a great way to monitor the traffic your blog gets. Since I posted the Google Street View article my blog has received a whole bunch of visitors who found the site through Google and I wanted to share with you guys what they searched for to find the article. So I just put together a little MindMap to show how people find the article.

How visitors found the article through searches
So what does this MindMap tell us about how people think of Google Street View? Well first of all we can see that a lot of people think the Google Street View got its own website, which it doesn’t and secondly some Danish people seem to have a hard time spelling Street View – but they find the article anyway. It does seem pretty weird that Google hasn’t registered for the googlestreetview.dk domain and a lot of people doesn’t seem to know that Google Street View is a part of maps.google.com. Because if you knew it was a part of maps.google.com you wouldn’t be searching for those keywords.

Funny thing is that I received 8 unique visitors who searched for “nude danish street view” that fits pretty well in the statistic that 25% of all searches online is about porn and that the word “sex” is in the Top 3 most searched words on search engines.

Have you experienced things like this yourself or do you have funny stories of how people found your blog/site/article? If you do then please let us all know in the comments section below.

On a little side note: I’ve received over 6000 pageviews in the last 14 days – thank you guys so much!

Sleep Cycle [iTunes] is an iPhone app from LexWare Labs and it’’s available in App Store right now. I first read about this app a couple of weeks ago but didn”t give it a second thought nor did I buy it. Then a user at MacBay, Danish Mac/Apple forum, wrote a little review of the app. After reading the review and all the responses on the app’’s page I bought it right there. I”ve been using the app since Wednesday night and I feel like it’’s working really great.

So what does Sleep Cycle do exactly?

It uses the iPhone/iPod Touch built-in accelerometer to measure what sleep-stage you are in. It measures how much you move around and then translates that into sleep-stages. It works because , when you go into “Deep Sleep” your brain sends a command to your spine that shuts down all your muscles and you are basically paralysed. The reason people sometimes just suddenly wake up with the feeling that they are falling and that is caused because your brain sends the command before you are actually ready to go into “Deep Sleep”. So you place your iPhone at the top of your bed with the display down and it registers all your movements. Right before you go to bed you set the alarm in the application and then it”ll wake you up as close to that time but also when you are in the lightest sleep phase.
